Monday, May 12, 2014 The Proverbs 31 Mother Proverbs 31:1 -2 (NKJV) The words of King Lemuel, the utterance which his mother taught him: What, my son? And what, son of my womb? And what, son of my vows? Recently I read today’s proverb ,the expression, “son of my vows,” captured my attention . I think of Hannah and how she dedicated Samuel to God,or Joseph and Mary and how they dedicated Jesus at the Temple.I also think of my own mother. Some of my earliest memories are of my mother reminding me of her vow concerning me. She’d say, “Son, before you were even born, I dedicated you to the Lord. I asked God to not let you even be born alive if you were not going to serve Him.” Talk about making an impression on a child, and, more importantly, on a teenager and young man.Proverbs 31 is famous for coining the phrase “Proverbs 31 wife”; but don’t forget the Proverbs 31 mother...
