Thanks for sharing this powerful sermon, Angela! Here's how we can move forward:
📝 Blog Post Format: "Idea Family – Part 2"
I
📖 Scripture Focus
- Luke 7:37–47 (NIV) – The story of the woman who anointed Jesus’ feet, showing deep love and repentance.
- Ephesians 5:21–22 (NIV) – The call to mutual submission in the family, rooted in reverence for Christ.
✨ Key Message
God meets you and your family right where you are. His grace not only forgives but empowers us to rise above what holds us down. The principle of submission—though often misunderstood—is a powerful tool for healing and strengthening our families.
💡 Main Points
- Grace Begins at Home – Before we seek grace in church, we must invite it into our homes.
- Biblical Family Roles –
- Husbands, love your wives.
- Wives, submit to your husbands.
- Children, obey your parents.
- Fathers, don’t provoke your children.
- Submission Is for Everyone – It’s not about control, but about using your influence to serve others.
- Ask This Question Daily: “What can I do to help?”
🙏 Prayer
Lord, help us to embrace Your grace in our homes. Teach us to love, submit, and serve one another as You have shown us. May our families be a reflection of Your love and forgiveness. Amen.

ideal family-part 1
===============
No matter how your family is made up (traditional, blended, solo parents, etc.) there are two things that we all have in common:
===============
As we read the narrative parts of the Bible – especially the Old Testament – there are almost no good examples of family.
===============
Nothing can create as much tension and disappointment in your life as family disagreements.
===============
Nothing can bring you any more joy than family when it works the right way.
===============
The family values that we have and enjoy today have not always been around.
===============
The Apostles of Christ introduced ideals into the Roman world that had never been lived anywhere on earth.
===============
Matthew 19:13-14 NIV
(13) Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.
(14) Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
===============
1 Peter 3:7 NIV
(7) Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
===============
Ephesians 5:22-26 NIV
(22) Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
(23) For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior.
(24) Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
(25) Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her
(26) to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
===============
Ephesians 6:1-4 NIV
(1) Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
(2) "Honor your father and mother"--which is the first commandment with a promise--
(3) "that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."
(4) Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.
===============
When God’s ideals are preached and lived it always elevates women, children, and the family.
===============
Jesus was showing us that there are ideas and principles from God’s Word that are new ideals that God wants us to shoot for and strive after.
===============
Matthew 5:27-28 NIV
(27) "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.'
(28) But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
===============
Jesus raises the standard in the ideal but along with the ideal, He introduces grace and His awesome forgiveness.
===============
The standard went higher but the grace went deeper.
===============
Jesus is the embodiment of grace and truth.
===============
The ideal is so far above the norm of what most of us live and do, that we must have God’s grace to pursue it.
===============
Are we willing to embrace an ideal, knowing that we might not always live up to it or are we going to abandon the ideal and call our shortcomings normal?
===============
When you embrace an ideal that you know that you will never fully live up to, you experience the tension between the ideal and the real.
===============
We all like to solve problems and fix things that are broken in our lives but we are going to encounter things in life that we cannot fix. Because we cannot fix it, we then have deal with it and manage it.
===============
Some of us have given up on the ideal and settled for the real and just don’t believe that we could ever reach for the ideal.
===============
Matthew 19:3-8 NIV
(3) Some Pharisees came to him to test him. They asked, "Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any and every reason?"
(4) "Haven't you read," he replied, "that at the beginning the Creator 'made them male and female,'
(5) and said, 'For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh'?
(6) So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate."
(7) "Why then," they asked, "did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?"
(8) Jesus replied, "Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.
===============
When there is the ideal and we don’t measure up because the real is somehow less, we have to learn to let the grace of God to go to work in our lives to bring change and pull us out so we can overcome.
===============
We can never give up on the ideal because there is the hope that those that come after us will reach the ideal in their families.
