Introduction / Hook
Have you ever tried to assemble something complicated without reading the instructions? Maybe it was a piece of furniture or a gadget. You struggle, make mistakes, and waste time. Life works the same way. God’s Word is our instruction manual, and He wants to guide us to a better life.
Part 1 of our “Better” series reminds us that being better starts with trusting God, seeking His guidance, and aligning our hearts with Him.
1. Trust God Completely – Proverbs 3:5-6
-
Illustration: Imagine driving through a foggy night. You can’t see the road clearly, but you trust your GPS to guide you. In life, God is our guide, and trusting Him allows us to navigate safely.
-
Application: Let go of self-reliance and trust God’s plan, even when you don’t understand the full picture. Submit your decisions, dreams, and daily life to Him.
2. Delight in God – Psalm 37:4
-
Illustration: A child eagerly plays with a favorite toy. Their delight brings joy and focus. Similarly, when we delight in God—through prayer, worship, and reading His Word—we align our desires with His.
-
Application: Seek joy in God daily. The more you delight in Him, the more your heart’s desires will reflect His will, leading to a better, fulfilled life.
3. Hunger and Thirst for Righteousness – Matthew 5:6
-
Illustration: Hunger drives us to seek food, thirst drives us to seek water. Spiritual hunger and thirst drive us to pursue God and His righteousness.
-
Application: Develop a deep desire for a life that honors God. Pursue His ways passionately, and He will satisfy your spiritual needs.
