Notes
===============
Faith is absolutely essential to your walk with God.
Scripture
===============
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)
---------------
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
Notes
===============
In saying it this way, Paul is telling us that there is a difference in hope and faith.
Scripture
===============
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
---------------
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Notes
===============
Hope is a positive expectation of things in the future.
Notes
===============
God always builds our hopes before we actually begin to operate in faith.
Notes
===============
What we see is that God did not begin Abraham in faith. He began him in hope.
Scripture
===============
Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV)
---------------
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you.
I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Scripture
===============
Genesis 12:7 (NKJV)
---------------
Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your descendants I will give this land.” And there he built an altar to the Lord, who had appeared to him.
Scripture
===============
Genesis 13:14 (NKJV)
---------------
And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are—northward, southward, eastward, and westward;
Scripture
===============
Genesis 13:17 (NKJV)
---------------
Arise, walk in the land through its length and its width, for I give it to you.”
Notes
===============
We see that God is instilling hope into the heart of Abram first because faith has to work with hope.
Notes
===============
Hope is a blueprint or a model.
Notes
===============
Hope is the ability to imagine what is going to happen.
Scripture
===============
Genesis 15:5-6 (NKJV)
---------------
Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
And he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
Notes
===============
God wanted Abraham to arrive at a place where it was completely and totally hopeless for him to have a son.
Scripture
===============
Genesis 17:1-4 (NKJV)
---------------
When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to Abram and said to him, “I am Almighty God; walk before Me and be blameless.
And I will make My covenant between Me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly.”
Then Abram fell on his face, and God talked with him, saying:
“As for Me, behold, My covenant is with you, and you shall be a father of many nations.
Scripture
===============
Genesis 17:5 (NKJV)
---------------
No longer shall your name be called Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you a father of many nations.
Scripture
===============
Romans 4:16-17 (NKJV)
---------------
Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all
(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;
Notes
===============
When God wants to change something, He calls those things that are not as they were.
Notes
===============
Hope is the blueprint. Hope says, “It is going to happen…” But faith is the construction crew.
Notes
===============
Faith works in the invisible arena where God lives.
Scripture
===============
Romans 4:18-20 (NKJV)
---------------
who, contrary to hope, in hope believed, so that he became the father of many nations, according to what was spoken, “So shall your descendants be.”
And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.
He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God,
Notes
===============
You will not be able to stay strong in faith if you continue to look at the natural negatives.
Notes
===============
If you look at the natural negatives, you will talk yourself out of the promises that God has made to you.
Scripture
===============
Romans 4:21 (NKJV)
---------------
and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform.
Notes
===============
You and I have the responsibility to persuade ourselves to believe what God has already said.
Scripture
===============
Mark 11:24 (NKJV)
---------------
Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. Forgiveness and Prayer
Scripture
===============
Hebrews 6:12 (NKJV)
---------------
that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises. God’s Infallible Purpose in Christ
Scripture
===============
Hebrews 10:35 (NKJV)
---------------
Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.
Notes
===============
People of faith should never be surprised when God answers their prayer because we believe that it is already done.
Notes
===============
When you operate in faith every day becomes a day of rejoicing and excitement and not surprise.
