Why Worry? - Part 6
Sermon: Why Worry? – Part 6
Theme: Trusting God in Every Situation
Scripture References:
-
Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Matthew 6:25-27 – “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
-
1 Peter 5:7 – “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
Introduction
Worry is something everyone faces. It creeps into our thoughts, steals our peace, and makes challenges feel heavier. In Part 6 of our “Why Worry?” series, we focus on trusting God in every situation and releasing anxiety to Him.
1. Bring Every Concern to God in Prayer
-
Scripture: Philippians 4:6
-
Illustration: Imagine carrying a heavy backpack full of stones. Each worry is like another stone, weighing you down. When we pray and give our worries to God, He lightens the load.
-
Application: Whatever troubles you—big or small—take it to God in prayer. Include thanksgiving and trust in your requests.
2. Recognize the Futility of Worry
-
Scripture: Matthew 6:25-27
-
Illustration: Worrying is like a rocking chair—it keeps you moving but doesn’t get you anywhere. Job, Jesus, and the disciples remind us that worry does not change outcomes; trust in God does.
-
Application: Stop trying to control everything. Trust God’s timing and provision. He is faithful to care for you.
3. Cast Your Anxiety on God
-
Scripture: 1 Peter 5:7
-
Illustration: Think of a child tossing a heavy stone into a river. God invites us to cast all our anxieties onto Him, freeing us from the burden.
-
Application: Release control and surrender your anxieties. God is not distant—He cares deeply about every detail of your life.
Practical Steps to Stop Worrying
-
Pray First: Bring every concern to God immediately.
-
Give Thanks: Focus on God’s blessings instead of your fears.
-
Release Control: Stop trying to fix everything yourself.
-
Meditate on Scripture: Memorize verses that remind you of God’s faithfulness.
-
Trust His Timing: Believe that God’s plans are perfect, even if they differ from yours.
Conclusion / Call to Action
Worry loses its power when we hand it over to God. By praying, trusting, and surrendering control, we experience His peace, even in uncertain times.
Call to Action:
Ask yourself: Am I carrying my worries alone, or am I giving them to God? Today, commit to casting your anxieties on Him and trusting His care.
Closing Prayer:
“Lord, help us to release our worries to You. Teach us to pray, give thanks, and trust Your timing and provision. Guard our hearts and minds with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Amen.”

Introduction
Worry can consume our thoughts and steal our joy. In Part 5 of the “Why Worry?” series, we focus on finding peace by trusting God’s promises. Scripture reminds us that God not only knows our needs but also promises to care for and sustain us.
1. Seek God’s Kingdom First

Prioritize God’s Kingdom: Let spiritual growth guide your daily decisions.

Give Your Burdens to God: Verbally or in prayer, release anxieties to Him.

Rely on His Strength: Remember that God is with you in every challenge.

Act in Faith: Step forward with confidence, knowing God’s provision is certain.

Call to Action:
Ask yourself: Am I trusting God with my needs, or am I carrying them alone? Commit today to focus on His kingdom and give your worries to Him.
Closing Prayer:
“Lord, help us to seek Your kingdom first and trust Your promises. Teach us to cast our cares upon You, rely on Your strength, and experience the peace that only You can give. Amen.”

The Novella Economy: Making Novellas Profitable
The Novella Economy: Making Novellas Profitable
In an era where bookshelves are crowded with full-length novels and readers’ attention spans are shrinking, novellas are carving out a unique niche in the literary market. Traditionally seen as a “shorter, less profitable sibling” of the novel, novellas are now emerging as a strategic tool for writers and publishers alike—offering both creative freedom and new revenue opportunities.
1. Understanding the Novella Market
A novella typically ranges from 20,000 to 50,000 words, making it longer than a short story but shorter than a standard novel. This format appeals to readers who:
-
Want a quick but satisfying read.
-
Prefer binge-reading series of shorter works.
-
Enjoy experimenting with new genres or authors without committing to a long novel.
With the rise of digital publishing, novellas have gained renewed visibility. Platforms like Kindle, Apple Books, and Kobo allow authors to price shorter works competitively, reaching audiences who consume content on mobile devices.
2. Pricing Strategies
The key to profitability is smart pricing. Novellas, due to their shorter length, should not compete directly with full-length novels in terms of price. Common strategies include:
-
Impulse pricing: $0.99–$2.99 to attract new readers and encourage discovery.
-
Bundling: Pairing two or more novellas into a single volume for higher perceived value.
-
Subscription platforms: Offering novellas on Kindle Unlimited or other subscription services can generate revenue per read, even at a lower upfront cost.
3. Series and Serialization
Novellas thrive when used as part of a series. Authors can:
-
Release frequent installments, keeping readers engaged and anticipating the next release.
-
Use shorter works to expand a universe without the time commitment of full-length novels.
-
Experiment with different perspectives or side stories, adding depth to main narratives.
Serialization encourages reader loyalty, repeat purchases, and word-of-mouth marketing—turning novellas into a consistent revenue stream.
4. Marketing Novellas Effectively
Successful novella marketing hinges on visibility and perceived value:
-
Eye-catching covers and blurbs are essential, as readers make quick decisions.
-
Promotions and discounts can help attract first-time readers.
-
Cross-promotion with full-length novels allows novellas to serve as entry points for a larger series.
Social media, email newsletters, and book-specific platforms like Goodreads can amplify reach. Since novellas are short, they are easier to market as a quick, accessible read for busy audiences.
5. Creative Advantages for Authors
Novellas offer writers flexibility:
-
Faster production: Shorter length allows quicker writing, editing, and publishing cycles.
-
Experimentation: Authors can try new genres, voices, or narrative structures with lower risk.
-
Audience building: A novella can serve as a calling card, attracting readers to an author’s larger body of work.
Conclusion
The novella economy is thriving because it meets the needs of modern readers and offers a versatile platform for authors. By strategically pricing, marketing, and leveraging the format in series or bundles, novellas can be both creatively fulfilling and financially profitable.
Novellas are no longer “lesser” works—they are a powerful tool for engagement, experimentation, and income generation in the modern publishing landscape.

Worry can overwhelm us, making small problems feel insurmountable. In Part 4 of the “Why Worry?” series, we focus on how faith in God helps us overcome anxiety and trust His provision and guidance.
1. God Cares About Every Detail

Closing Prayer:
“Lord, help us to trust You fully and not be consumed by worry. Strengthen us through Christ, guide our steps, and remind us daily of Your care and provision. Amen.”

About Giving
Pastor's Power Points
Greater love has no one than this, that one lay

Greater Love Hath No Man Than This…
Jesus said in John 15:13, “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” These words remind us that true love is sacrificial, selfless, and unconditional. Real love isn’t measured by words alone—it’s shown through action, through giving of ourselves for the good of others.
The Example of Christ
The greatest demonstration of love was Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. He didn’t just talk about love—He lived it and ultimately gave His life for all of humanity. His love was not dependent on our actions, our worthiness, or our ability to return it. It was pure, unwavering, and sacrificial.
Love in Action
We may not all be called to lay down our lives physically, but we are called to live sacrificially in everyday ways. Loving your neighbor, forgiving someone who wronged you, giving time and resources to those in need, or standing up for someone who cannot stand up for themselves—these are acts of love that reflect Christ’s heart.
Remember the story of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30–37). The Samaritan risked his own time, energy, and safety to help a stranger in need. That is love in action—the kind that goes beyond convenience, comfort, or obligation.
The Power of Sacrificial Love
Sacrificial love transforms lives. It brings hope to the hopeless, light to the dark places, and peace where there is chaos. It demonstrates God’s presence in a world that desperately needs it. Every act of selfless love is a reflection of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice and a testimony to His greatness.
Takeaway
-
True love is selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional.
-
We follow Christ by putting others’ needs above our own.
-
Small acts of love can have a profound impact.
-
Sacrificial love reveals God’s heart to the world.
Closing Prayer
Lord, teach us to love as You love. Help us to put others before ourselves, to forgive, to serve, and to give without expecting anything in return. Strengthen our hearts to show sacrificial love every day, and may our actions point others to You. Thank You for the greatest love of all, shown through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Amen.

Why Worry? - Part 3
Monday, October 28, 2013
Why God allows suffering
Why God Allows Suffering
God allows suffering for several reasons. While we may not always understand why tragedies occur, Scripture gives us guidance to help make sense of it. Often, suffering arises from human choices and actions. Sometimes, however, the reasons remain hidden from us in this life.
We must remember that Jesus Christ will return as King of Kings to establish a kingdom of peace, prosperity, and purpose for all. The Gospel of the Kingdom of God was central to His teaching.
What Should You Do in Suffering?
If you are suffering, bring your burdens to God in prayer and faith. Ask Him for comfort and encouragement. King David, in the book of Psalms, repeatedly cried out to God for relief from his suffering.
Jesus Himself came to earth to ease humanity’s suffering. He knows our pain and offers comfort, help, and hope. As He said:
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest for your souls.” — Matthew 11:28-29
We need not be discouraged by the evil and suffering in the world. Understanding that suffering occurs for valid reasons can help us cope. God is sovereign and ultimately in control, and He has promised to free the world from suffering—not now, but when Christ returns to establish His Kingdom. In the meantime, He tells us to pray for the coming of that Kingdom and to wait patiently (Matthew 6:9-10; Luke 21:19).
Our Responsibility
For our own lives, we must surrender to God through genuine repentance, as Jesus commanded (Luke 13:3,5). When Christ came to earth 2,000 years ago, He found a world burdened with injustice and pain. Of that world, He said:
“The people living in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.” — Matthew 4:16, NIV
The light Jesus spoke of was Himself and the truth of God He revealed. He called people to turn to God, saying:
“Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” — Matthew 4:17
By turning to God, we can experience comfort and hope even in the midst of suffering, looking forward to a world free of pain.
Finding Strength in God’s Promises
Take courage and hope from God’s promises. Even amid sorrow, we can experience joy by living according to His will today and trusting His revealed truth about the world to come.
Paul explained that:
“The sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed to us.” — Romans 8:18
The pain of today will seem small and fleeting compared to the eternal joy we will experience in God’s Kingdom. Paul also reminds us:
“For our present troubles are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.” — 2 Corinthians 4:17-18, NLT
Even in suffering, we can find peace, strength, and hope as we trust God’s promises and look forward to the world He has prepared for us.
Why Worry? - Part 2
Sermon: Why Worry? – Part 2
Theme: Understanding the Futility of Worry
Scripture References:
-
Matthew 6:25-27 – “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”
-
Luke 12:22-26 – “Do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear… Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”
-
Psalm 37:7 – “Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when people succeed in their ways.”
Introduction
Worry is a natural human response, but it is often unproductive and draining. In Part 2 of the “Why Worry?” series, we focus on the futility of worry and why trusting God is a better choice than fretting over life’s challenges.
1. Worry Cannot Add to Your Life
-
Scripture: Matthew 6:25-27
-
Illustration: Trying to control every outcome in life is like trying to make a clock run faster—it won’t change the time. Worry does not solve problems or extend life.
-
Application: Accept that worrying is unproductive. Focus on faith and action instead of anxiety.
2. Trust God’s Provision
-
Scripture: Luke 12:22-26
-
Illustration: Birds do not sow or reap, yet God provides for them. Humans, created in God’s image, can trust that He knows our needs and will provide.
-
Application: Stop obsessing over needs and provision. Trust that God will meet your needs according to His wisdom and timing.
3. Be Patient and Still
-
Scripture: Psalm 37:7
-
Illustration: Like waiting for a seed to sprout, God’s timing is perfect. Anxiety cannot hasten His plan.
-
Application: Practice patience and stillness, relying on God’s plan rather than fretting over outcomes.
Practical Steps to Stop Worrying
-
Recognize Worry’s Futility: Understand that fretting changes nothing.
-
Trust God for Daily Needs: Believe that He knows and provides for every detail.
-
Practice Patience: Wait for God’s timing without anxiety.
-
Focus on Faith-Filled Action: Do what you can and leave the rest to God.
Conclusion / Call to Action
Worrying is a waste of energy and faith. By trusting God’s provision and timing, we can experience peace and focus on purposeful living.
Call to Action:
Ask yourself: Am I letting worry control me, or am I trusting God’s care? Commit to releasing what you cannot control and focusing on God’s promises.
Closing Prayer:
“Lord, teach us to recognize the futility of worry. Help us trust Your provision, be patient in Your timing, and focus our energy on faith-filled action. Grant us peace in every situation. Amen.”

Sermon: Why Worry? – Part 1
Theme: Worry vs. Faith

-
Philippians 4:6 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
-
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
Introduction
Worry is a common struggle for everyone. It steals joy, drains energy, and clouds judgment. In Part 1 of the “Why Worry?” series, we focus on understanding the difference between worry and faith, and how turning to God can replace anxiety with peace.
1. Worry vs. Faith
-
Scripture: Matthew 6:25
-
Illustration: Imagine a child clinging to their parent in fear during a storm. Faith trusts the parent’s protection, while worry fears the unknown. Similarly, faith trusts God even in uncertain circumstances.
-
Application: Examine your worries—are they rooted in a lack of trust in God? Choose faith over fear today.
2. Bring Your Concerns to God
-
Scripture: Philippians 4:6
-
Illustration: Carrying a heavy bag slows your steps. When we pray and give our concerns to God, He lightens the load and gives peace in return.
-
Application: Make prayer your first response to worry. Present your needs to God with thanksgiving, trusting Him to provide and guide.
3. Trust God’s Guidance
-
Scripture: Proverbs 3:5-6
-
Illustration: A traveler relies on a guide to navigate unfamiliar terrain. Trusting God is like following His guidance—even when the path is unclear, He leads us safely.
-
Application: Lean on God’s wisdom, not your own understanding. Submit your worries, decisions, and plans to Him, trusting that He will direct your steps.
Practical Steps to Combat Worry
-
Recognize Worry vs. Faith: Identify areas where you are anxious instead of trusting God.
-
Pray About Everything: Bring all concerns to God with thanksgiving.
-
Trust God’s Plan: Accept that He knows best and His timing is perfect.
-
Focus on Action, Not Anxiety: Do your part faithfully and leave the rest to God.
Conclusion / Call to Action
Faith is the antidote to worry. By trusting God, praying continually, and relying on His guidance, we can replace anxiety with peace and confidence in His provision.
Call to Action:
Ask yourself: Am I trusting God fully, or am I letting worry control me? Commit to turning your fears into faith and giving your worries to Him today.
Closing Prayer:
“Lord, help us to trust You with all our hearts. Teach us to replace worry with faith, to bring our concerns to You in prayer, and to rely on Your guidance every day. Grant us peace and confidence in Your care. Amen.”

Big Faith - Part 4
Big Faith – Part 4
Faith is more than just belief—it’s trusting God when the outcome isn’t clear and taking action in obedience to Him. In Part 4 of our “Big Faith” series, we explore how faith grows through small steps, consistent choices, and trust in God’s promises.
Faith in Action
James 2:17 reminds us, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” This means that faith isn’t passive. True faith requires us to step out, even when the situation feels impossible. Just like Peter stepping out of the boat to walk on water (Matthew 14:28–29), we must sometimes act before we feel completely ready or confident.
Big faith doesn’t always mean expecting immediate miracles. Often, it starts with small, consistent actions: forgiving someone who hurt you, helping someone in need, giving generously, or simply trusting God with your daily decisions. Each small act of obedience builds your faith and strengthens your walk with God.
Faith that Impacts Others
Your faith doesn’t just affect you—it affects everyone around you. When you act in faith, you show others the power of God at work. Your courage, generosity, and trust can inspire others to seek God and step out in faith themselves. Remember the story of the widow with the two small coins (Mark 12:41–44)? Her seemingly small act of giving was noticed and honored by God. Sometimes, the smallest steps in faith can make the biggest impact.
Overcoming Doubt
Even strong believers face doubt. But big faith is choosing to trust God even in the uncertainty. Proverbs 3:5–6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.” Trusting God doesn’t mean you have all the answers—it means you believe He does.
Takeaway
-
Faith grows through action.
-
Small steps of obedience can lead to great impact.
-
Your faith can inspire and bless others.
-
Trust God even when the path seems uncertain.
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of faith. Help us to step out boldly, trusting You with every decision. Strengthen our hearts to act in obedience, even when we cannot see the outcome. Let our faith grow each day, and may it bless those around us. Guide us to take small steps that honor You and demonstrate Your power in our lives. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Big Faith - Part 3
Big Faith – Part 3
Faith is not just about believing—it’s about trusting God enough to step out, even when the outcome is unknown. In Part 3 of our “Big Faith” series, we focus on courageous faith: trusting God in bold, decisive ways.
Faith Requires Courage
Hebrews 11:1 tells us, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Big faith often asks us to act before we can see the full picture. Like Joshua leading the Israelites into the Promised Land (Joshua 1:9), we are called to move forward with courage, trusting God’s promises.
Overcoming Fear Through Faith
Fear can hold us back from the life God wants for us. But faith replaces fear with trust. When we step out in faith, God provides strength, guidance, and protection. Remember David facing Goliath (1 Samuel 17)—his faith in God gave him the courage to face a giant that seemed unbeatable. Likewise, our faith can empower us to face the giants in our own lives, no matter how impossible they seem.
Faith That Inspires Action
Courageous faith is not just for personal growth—it impacts others. When we act boldly in faith, we encourage those around us to trust God as well. Our steps of faith can light the way for others, showing them that God’s power works through ordinary people who choose to trust Him.
Takeaway:
-
Faith often requires courage to step into the unknown.
-
Trusting God helps overcome fear and doubt.
-
Bold acts of faith inspire and encourage others.
-
God strengthens those who act in faith.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, grant us the courage to trust You fully. Help us to step boldly into the plans You have for us, even when we cannot see the way. Strengthen our hearts, remove our fears, and let our faith inspire those around us. May we honor You through every step we take. Amen.
Big Faith - Part 2
Big Faith – Part 2
Faith is not just about believing in God—it’s about trusting Him when life feels uncertain. In Part 2 of our “Big Faith” series, we focus on how faith grows through perseverance, patience, and trust in God’s timing.
Faith Through Trials
Romans 5:3–4 reminds us, “We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” Challenges are not obstacles to our faith; they are opportunities to strengthen it. Every trial we face is a chance to rely on God and grow spiritually.
Taking Steps of Faith
Big faith requires action. Even when the path is unclear, small steps of trust can lead to great victories. Like Abraham, who obeyed God’s call to leave his home without knowing the destination (Genesis 12:1–4), we are called to move forward, trusting that God is guiding our steps.
Faith That Inspires Others
Our faith doesn’t only strengthen us—it encourages those around us. When others see us trusting God through difficulties, it can inspire them to seek Him and deepen their own faith. Remember, faith is contagious; a bold step in faith can spark hope in someone else’s life.
Takeaway:
-
Faith grows when we trust God in trials.
-
Small steps of obedience build big faith.
-
Your faith can inspire and bless others.
-
Patience and perseverance strengthen your relationship with God.
Closing Prayer:
Lord, help us to trust You even when the way is unclear. Give us the courage to take steps of faith, the patience to persevere through trials, and the strength to inspire others by our example. May our faith grow daily, and may we glorify You in all we do. Amen.
