Introduction

We live in a time where self-centeredness and disunity are increasingly common. The solution to the destructive emphasis on individual gratification is the celebration of family, grounded in God’s original plan. Families were God’s idea from the very beginning, and He has always intended for them to flourish under His guidance.

1. Family Is God’s Original Plan

  • Scripture: Genesis 1:9-10, 1:31

  • Illustration: Just as God called the land and seas into order, He designed families to provide structure, growth, and blessing.

  • Application: Recognize that God’s intention for families is good. Every family, no matter its imperfections, can reflect His design.

2. God Chose You for His Family

  • Scripture: Genesis 12:1-3; Ephesians 3:14-15

  • Scripture: Matthew 5:16

  • Notes: Jesus emphasized that living in God’s family includes reflecting His light and love to the world.

  • Application: Your family can be a beacon of God’s goodness and a model for others.

4. The Local Church: God’s Family Environment

  • Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:18; Acts 20:28; Ephesians 4:14-16

  • Illustration: Just as individual parts of a body must work together to thrive, families flourish when connected to the church.

  • Application:

    1. Receive instruction that helps you grow into Christlikeness.

    2. Engage in relationships for encouragement and accountability.

    3. Stay committed to your local church, even through disagreements.

5. The Power of Following God’s Family Plan

  • Scripture: Genesis 12:3

  • Illustration: Even imperfect families can experience God’s blessings when they align with His plan.

  • Application: Follow God’s blueprint for family life, prioritize unity, faith, and involvement in His church.
